Pijarska Street: beneath the arch beside the museum

A reason to pause here

The arch over Pijarska makes us want to follow the lane beneath it. Our photographs leave room for the smaller details along the way, from a window grille to a commemorative panel beside the pavement.

The street beside the museum complex

The Czartoryski collection came to Kraków in the 1870s after earlier homes at Puławy and Paris. Its museum buildings became part of this northern Old Town quarter. Nearby, the Piarist church was built in 1718–1728, with a later eighteenth-century façade.

Look at the grille before the arch

We would notice the smaller ironwork and commemorative panel before walking under the overhead connection. The gallery keeps the lane’s enclosing walls in view, making the arch part of a sequence rather than a single target. Planty is close when you want a wider outlook.

Plan the visit

The public street and museum interiors have different access. Check timed museum tickets before an exhibition visit, and follow church notices for the Piarists. Keep the narrow lane clear of groups while photographing upwards.
