Room to walk beside the river
Podolski Boulevard gives us room to keep walking after the narrower Podgórze streets. We like the changing view towards Father Bernatek footbridge, with enough space to pause beside the river while keeping the shared route clear.
The embankments and a newer crossing
Kraków’s Vistula embankments now carry walking and cycling routes along both banks. Podolski Boulevard lies on the Podgórze side, opposite Kazimierz. Father Bernatek footbridge, opened in 2010, connects the two neighbourhoods for pedestrians and cyclists.
Choose a level beside the water
Our photographs move between the lower path and the higher approach beside the retaining wall. Try the upper view first to see the shape of the footbridge, then use an open ramp or stairway to reach the lower riverside route.
We like leaving this walk open-ended. A crossing towards Kazimierz can lead to a meal or another short street walk; staying on the Podgórze bank gives the river more time. Stop clear of the moving line of bicycles when taking photographs.
Plan the visit
Use the marked paths and crossings, and check riverside notices after high water or maintenance. Steps and ramps provide different ways between levels; inspect the route on arrival if step-free access matters.
- Pause on a wider section away from the cycling line.
- Check access to the lower embankment before committing to a riverside route.
