Słowiański Square: choose the next turn in Żagań

A reason to pause here

We like Słowiański Square as a place to work out the next part of a Żagań walk. The photographs move between the open paving and narrower approaches, showing how easily we can turn towards another frontage or side street.

The square and the ducal buildings

Żagań’s official Duchess Dorota route includes the former ducal administration and the Widow’s House on Słowiański Square. The latter is now the municipal office at number 17. These buildings give the square a connection to the estate’s history beyond the larger palace and park.

Use the open space to get your bearings

We would stop on the square, compare its frontages, then follow one of the narrower approaches. The photographs make it easy to imagine a walk with small turns rather than a fixed circuit. Keep the town hall tower and municipal office distinct when choosing the next stop.
