A lit theatre entrance makes us think about what happens after the daytime walk. Bagatela sits where the Old Town streets meet a busy tram junction.

A theatre, a cinema and a returning name

Bagatela’s history began in 1918. After a fire and modernisation, the building served as a cinema in the 1930s. Following the Second World War it housed the Rozmaitości Theatre, before returning to the Bagatela name.

Kraków’s official guide describes a repertoire of adult comedies and children’s productions. The building in our photographs is therefore a working venue; the programme gives it a different use from simply looking at its exterior during the day.

Look outside, then choose a performance

We would pause at the frontage on an Old Town walk, then decide whether a performance fits the evening. Read the play description and language information before booking, particularly if you do not speak Polish.

The surrounding Planty and named theatre squares make useful daytime companions to the stop. Leave room between the walk and curtain time to find the correct entrance and collect anything required by your booking.

Buy tickets and check performance times through Bagatela’s current programme. Ask the theatre about subtitles, age suitability and access to the particular auditorium if needed. Different stages can have different addresses or arrangements; follow the information on your ticket rather than only the photographed frontage.
