A community centre opened in 2008
JCC Kraków opened in April 2008. The centre runs educational and community activities, giving a visit to Kazimierz a way to engage with Jewish life in the city today. Its founding members and later programmes include several generations.
The centre is on Miodowa beside Tempel Synagogue. The two buildings have different functions: visiting a historic synagogue and attending a community-centre event require separate planning.
Choose a programme, then arrange the visit
The green window frames in our photographs make the frontage easy to recognise. We would start with the centre’s programme and choose an event that welcomes visitors. That gives a clearer reason to enter than treating a working community space as another room on a sightseeing route.
Plan the visit
Check JCC Kraków’s current events and contact the centre about tours or attendance. Some activities need registration and others are for members. Respect reception and security arrangements, and ask before photographing people or activities. Combine the visit with nearby Kazimierz streets without assuming unrestricted access to either the centre or synagogue.
