This is a small pause on a longer city walk. The photographs give us the bench and path to look for, without turning a named patch of greenery into a full-day outing.

A theatre director remembered on the Planty

Kraków’s council named this space for Jerzy Jarocki in 2022. The municipal account locates it between Szewska, Dunajewskiego and Szczepańska. Jarocki was a theatre director, teacher, translator and playwright.

The square forms a small part of the Planty, whose paths replaced much of the older defensive ring in the nineteenth century. We would connect the dedication with a walk around the neighbouring theatre quarter, without expecting a separate monument or exhibition at every named green space.

A short stop on the longer walk

Our two photographs give us the bench, railings and path to look for. We would let this be a comfortable pause between streets, then continue towards Szczepański Square or another stretch of the Planty.

Plan the visit

The public park path is the straightforward approach. Dunajewskiego carries traffic and trams, so use marked crossings when moving to the neighbouring streets. Keep the bench area available to other walkers, and plan theatre admission separately through the venue.
