A reason to pause here
The curved beds and tulips catch our eye before the name on the bench does. It is a small stop that suits a walk through Kraków’s theatre quarter.
A theatre name added in 2022
Kraków’s city council named this Planty space for Konrad Swinarski in July 2022. The municipal account places it between Szczepańska, Dunajewskiego and Świętego Tomasza. The adjacent Jerzy Jarocki dedication was decided at the same council session.
The park itself is older: the Planty was laid out in the nineteenth century around the former defensive ring. We like noticing a recent dedication within that established walk, then using it to learn more about the city’s theatre life.
Follow the curved beds
Our photographs give the curved planting and tulips more attention than the surrounding traffic. We would stop beside the dedication on the bench, then follow the path around the bed before moving towards Szczepański Square.
This is a small stop that fits a longer outing. The Palace of Art and theatre quarter nearby give several ways to continue, with their exhibitions and performances planned separately.
Plan the visit
Approach on the public Planty path. Use marked crossings if moving across Dunajewskiego, and keep to the paths around the planted beds. Tulips belong to the spring view in our collection; a later visit will have a different display. Consult the city’s current culture listings for any event you want to add.
- Look for the name on the bench beside the planting.
- Leave the flowerbeds clear when taking photographs.
