The tree canopy and old courtyard walls are what draw us to this corner of Kazimierz. It is a good place to make space for a break between nearby heritage stops.

Kraków Film Commission identifies Mleczarnia at Meiselsa 20 and describes its courtyard garden across the street. The garden gives this stop a place in the district’s café life, without establishing a construction date for the enclosing buildings.

The surrounding Kazimierz streets belonged to an independent town until 1800. We would make this café pause part of exploring the district’s churches, synagogues and culture venues, rather than let a seating area become the whole account of the neighbourhood.

Make room for the trees and courtyard walls

Our photographs move from the street frontage to tables beneath the tree canopy. We like a break that still leaves something to look at: old walls, the entrance and branches above the courtyard. Choose a seat only within the area open to customers that day.

The Jewish Culture Centre nearby offers another reason to stay in this corner. Check its programme if a talk or exhibition would suit the rest of the walk.
