A reason to pause here
We would come to Wisława Szymborska Park with time to read the wall as well as look at the planting. In our April photographs, a narrow path and fresh spring beds turn the space between buildings into a place to pause.
From a car park to a public garden
The park opened on 2 July 2023, the hundredth anniversary of Wisława Szymborska’s birth. Residents had campaigned to replace a temporary car park with greenery, and the project was funded through Kraków’s civic budget. The planting and literary elements were designed together, including references to the poet’s poems and collages.
Bring time to read
We would look at the wall text before following the narrow paths among the beds. Our April photographs show fresh spring planting between the surrounding buildings. A bench and a few minutes with a poem may suit this space better than another hurried crossing.
Plan the visit
Use the public entrances and keep to paths around the planted beds. Any neighbouring exhibition, pavilion or event has separate arrangements; check the current city programme rather than assuming it is included in the park visit. Keep water features and plants undisturbed.

- Combine the park with a walk along Rajska and Karmelicka.
