A reason to pause here
Our Czartoryski Museum photographs spend time in the courtyard beneath the glass roof. We like giving a museum visit room for the building as well as the collection, while choosing the galleries we want to see before buying tickets.
A collection that moved before reaching Kraków
Princess Izabela Czartoryska established the collection at Puławy in 1801. After the November Uprising, objects were moved abroad, including to Paris, before the collection came to Kraków in the 1870s. The Second World War brought losses, including Raphael’s Portrait of a Young Man.
The collection became part of the National Museum in Kraków after the Polish state’s purchase in 2016. The restored museum reopened in December 2019. Its holdings include Leonardo da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine and Rembrandt’s Landscape with the Good Samaritan.
Give the building a share of the visit
Our gallery spends time in the glass-roofed courtyard. We would let that be a pause between galleries, then choose the works we want to look at closely. A museum day feels less hurried when one painting gets more attention than a long list.

The National Museum sells tickets for a specified date and time. Reserve through its official system and check what your ticket includes. The museum publishes access information for different mobility and sensory needs; read it before planning the route.
