Let a local name on the menu start a conversation
A meal is part of how we like to get to know a place. With our Polish roots, food also gives us another way to explore the country that first drew us here. We’re curious about dishes with a local name. Ask the people serving them what goes into the version their kitchen makes; the answer can help you choose something to try.
A Wrocław tourism listing for the restaurant Wrocławska names Hekele, Wrocław-style żurek, Wrocław dumplings and Silesian Heaven among its regional dishes. Recipes and menus vary, so use those names as a starting point when reading a menu. The photograph above shows pierogi at a different restaurant, Pod Przykrywką in Wrocław; its original source is linked in the credit.
Give lunch some time of its own
We’d leave a proper lunch stop in a walk around the Old Town. Restaurants around the Rynek are convenient when you are already exploring the square. Walking a few blocks away gives you more places to consider if you want a quieter meal. Check whether the kitchen takes reservations before building the day around a particular restaurant.
Menus and opening hours change, so confirm the details before making a special trip. Ask staff about ingredients and preparation if you have dietary restrictions. A little curiosity is useful here, and the conversation can help you choose something you will enjoy eating.
