A reason to pause here
The little pavilion in Zbigniew Wodecki Square makes us want to stop on the Planty walk. We like the view from the path into its open sides, with the timber roof and green railings offering a smaller subject than the surrounding streets.
The name given to the garden stop
Kraków’s council voted to name the Planty square for Zbigniew Wodecki on 26 February 2020. The musician died in 2017. The city’s account describes name plaques identifying the space; that naming date is distinct from the age of its pavilion.
Look through the pavilion’s open sides
We would stop at the path for a view of the timber roof and green railings before deciding whether to sit. The gallery gives the shelter a smaller scale than the nearby streets. Trees and the surrounding lawn make it a natural pause during a Planty circuit.
Plan the visit
Keep to public paths around the planting and leave space for other people using the pavilion. Steps in the photographs mean access should be checked rather than assumed level. Any organised music event has its own programme and arrangements.
