Sława’s town park: follow the water towards the lake

A reason to pause here

The channels and little bridges are what make us want to wander through Sława’s town park. We would let the walk reach the lake before deciding whether to return by the palace or take another shaded path.

From a formal palace garden to a landscape park

The palace was rebuilt in 1732–1735 for the Barwitz de Fernemont family after the town fire of 1721. A formal decorative garden and productive gardens developed beside the residence.

After 1854, Carl Eduard Petzold redesigned and expanded the grounds as a landscape park with more freely arranged paths and water. The estate later belonged to the Haugwitz family. The wider park includes municipal grounds; palace ownership and access should not be confused with the public park walk.

Let the bridges shape the route

We would follow the channels and small bridges towards Lake Sławskie, then choose a shaded return. Our photographs give reasons to stop at the water rather than make a fast lap. Look towards the palace from permitted paths without assuming its interior is open.

Plan the visit

Use Sława’s current municipal visitor information for park routes and events. Follow signs at private or restricted parts of the estate. Bridges and waterside paths can be slippery after rain, and the park is not a substitute for a designated bathing beach.
